REFLECT EXPRESS
Why use this?
To facilitate self expressison, to reflect upon problems that might appear, to help the volunteer feel more understood; to facilitate conversations
Method
Step 1:
Choose the “genre” of the story (motivational, empathetic – being someone else, explanatory or teambuilding – connecting with others), according to the needs at the moment
Step 2:
Choose the “genre” of the story (motivational, empathetic – being someone else, explanatory or teambuilding – connecting with others), according to the needs at the moment
Tip from a Mentor
Encourage the volunteer to be creative when writing the story! (for example, it can be told as it was a big fantastic adventure – the voluteer could be “the hero” and the problem to be “the dragon” they have to overcome). To make sure that you understand the volunteer clearly, it is important to ask aditional questions if there are any interesting detailes to the story. ex: “What happened before joining the project? Did you act different in a similar situation?”
